Bond Cancellation Requirements Guide

To close or cancel a bond, we must receive appropriate documentation confirming that the fiduciary’s responsibilities have concluded.

Please review the requirements outlined below based on bond type and amount:

Probate Bond Amount: Up to $250,000

Submit ONE of the following:

  • Final Court Discharge for the Estate
  • Letter on firm letterhead stating:
    • All debts have been paid, and all balances have been distributed to the remaining heirs

Probate Bond Amount: $250,000 and Over

Submit ONE of the following:

  • Final Court Discharge for the Estate
  • Final Accounting approved by the court
  • Verification of case closure from the court’s online system

Guardianship Bond Amount: Up to $1,000,000

Submit ONE of the following:

  • Final Court Discharge for the Guardianship
  • Evidence of death of the ward
  • Final Accounting approved by the court
  • Verification of case closure from the court’s online system

Guardianship Bond Amount: $1,000,000 and Over

Submit ONE of the following:

  • Final Court Discharge for the Guardianship
  • Final Accounting approved by the court
  • Verification of case closure from the court’s online system

VA Bonds: Any Amount

Submit:

  • Final Exoneration Letter from the Department of Veterans Affairs

Trustee Bonds: Any Amount

Submit ONE of the following:

  • Final Court Discharge for the Trust
  • Final Accounting
  • Evidence of death of the beneficiary
  • Evidence that trust assets have been fully distributed to beneficiaries

Submission Instructions:

Documentation may be submitted via:

  • Client Portal upload
  • Email to our office

Once received and reviewed, we will confirm cancellation status and any prorated premium due, if applicable.
